Big organisations have the potential to make a big impact on society by encouraging their employees and customers to give back.

And our founding partner and host for this year’s launch event, RBS, pulled it out of the hat for Giving Tuesday 2017, helping to create an additional £470,000 of funding for the charities and good causes that their employees and customers care about.

Showing their support for the fourth year running last year, the organisation emailed over 1.5m customers with a My Reward account, asking them to donate their reward points for charity donations on the day.

They also asked their employees to sign up to or increase an existing Payroll Giving instruction, and incentivised them by giving those individuals who took up the offer a £125 charity donation for their charity of choice.

In addition, they engaged with c.70,000 employees, asking them to make a pledge and share what they’re planning for Giving Tuesday by posting ‘Unselfie’ selfies on the company’s employee platform.

RBS’ contribution to Giving Tuesday has been instrumental and fantastic for our campaign and we can only imagine what the organisation will come up with this year!
