The Hospice in the Weald is an adult hospice based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

They took part in #GivingTuesday for the first time last year and raised a whopping £56,000!

The Hospice’s fundraising team came up with the idea to link #GivingTuesday with their annual Light up a Life Christmas Appeal, which allows people to reflect and share memories of their loved ones and light a candle for them.

They asked supporters to share photos of their loved ones on #GivingTuesday using the hashtag #IRemember, encouraging them to donate to the campaign as they did so. But the team wanted to do something extra special to help inspire donations on #GivingTuesday so they asked one of their major investors to match donations received on the day. Luckily, they agreed and all money raised on #GivingTuesday was doubled!

They didn’t just run their campaign online. Oh no. Staff and volunteers also wrapped up warm and headed out to their local train stations to hand out leaflets to commuters making sure that they all knew that it was #GivingTuesday and asking them to support the Hospice.

The results were incredible. They broke records for visits to the hospice website and received their largest ever number of text message donations. By the end of it, the team had smashed their fundraising target and raised a stonking £56,000!
