Every act of giving has a story, what’s yours?

#MyGivingStory is a storytelling campaign that encourages people to share how and why they give, be that donating money, time, skills or goods.

These stories help demonstrate how easy it is to support your favourite cause, as well as highlighting all the different ways people can give.

We hope #MyGivingStory will foster a public conversation about generosity and inspire more people to give and to give in more ways.

Through #MyGivingStory we want you to share why you were inspired to give, how and why you give, and the impact your giving journey has had on you, the cause you support, or both.

We know people in the UK are incredibly generous, with 64% of people reporting participation in some kind of charitable or social activity in 2018[1]. We also know that people are more likely to do something if they see other people doing it.

So share your #MyGivingStory today and inspire someone else to do something amazing!

What’s a giving story?

Think about what or who inspires you to give back. Have you given you time, campaigned for something, donated money or goods, or shared skills?

What is the first time you remember giving? Is there a moment or event that changed your understanding of generosity?

Who is the most generous person you know and how has that person influenced you?

Everyone’s story is unique so feel free to be creative!

How do you get started?

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Create a post or short video answering the question “I give because…”

2. Share on social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn. Don’t forget to tag the good cause you are talking about and use the hashtag #MyGivingStory

3. If you know someone else who has a #MyGivingStory, nominate them to share their story too.
