Giving Tuesday 2018

Great paintings capture our imaginations, engage us intellectually, and absorb us emotionally.

The National Gallery is committed to delivering an inspiring programme of activities and to bring great paintings into as many lives as possible, both today and in the future. However, as a charity, public support is fundamental.

Every year over five million people visit the National Gallery to see the permanent collection, enjoy a temporary exhibition, or participate in a lecture, tour, or education programme. Public donations play a vital role in enabling all of these activities.

On Giving Tuesday 2018, the National Gallery has secured matched funding to double all donations made on the day, which they hope will encourage the public to be even more generous with their donations on 27th November 2018.

See Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery, thank the Gallery’s donors and explain the importance of donations to the Gallery.

Stéphanie Gaillard, Legacy and Appeals Manager, said:

“The reach of #GivingTuesday is truly incredible. The National Gallery is excited to be a partner and benefit from this inspirational movement that motivates world-wide record-breaking generosity in just one day.”

“By participating in #GivingTuesday and through the use of match-funding that will match all donations made on the day £ for £, we hope to raise awareness of the National Gallery as a charity and encourage public generosity to help us to continue our important work.”
