At the University of Essex this #givingtuesday we’re hoping to end our Women of the Future Appeal with a really festive flourish.
The Appeal officially ends in December, and for the past 18 months all donations to it have been match-funded by the University. For #givingtuesday we’re doubling the match, so for every £1 donated on the day the University will add another £2 to the fund!
The Appeal is raising money for Masters scholarships for talented and inspirational women, and we’re hoping #givingtuesday will give us a final push. We will have giant gift tags located around campus for the day, which this year will tell the stories of some of the amazing women who are already part of the Essex community; and this year, for a donation, members of the University will be able to paint their own Christmas decorations with the names of the women who inspire them.
We are also launching this year’s issue of our annual Impact Report, to share more stories of inspirational philanthropy within our community; and we will be officially opening our new Philanthropy Bridge – where the walkway to our main lecture theatre is decorated with stories about how giving at Essex has changed our world for the better. All of our activities will be brought together by a special website www.essex.ac.uk/givingtuesday, and our senior stakeholders will be tweeting giving stories throughout the year.
We’re really excited about #givingtuesday, we think it’s going to be our best one yet!
