Lepra is putting a bit of a spin on #givingtuesday this year and asking people to join them for #GivingShoesday.
Throughout India, Bangladesh and Mozambique Lepra provides custom-made shoes for those affected by diseases such as leprosy and lymphatic filariasis. These shoes allow people to walk pain and injury free to work and to school, meaning they can provide for their families and continue their education regardless of their disease or disabilities.
There are several ways you can get involved and help them make a difference on #givingtuesday.
A pound a pair
Fess up and declare how many pairs of shoes you own by donating £1 for every pair to Lepra. Just £6 provides one person with two pairs of protective shoes.
Show us your shoes
Join the likes of Joseph Fiennes, Jo Brand and Alan Titchmarsh in sharing a photo of your shoes on social media. It’ll help Lepra to raise awareness of those neglected diseases that can impact a person’s ability to walk pain-free. Use #GivingShoesday and don’t forget to tag @Lepra_HinA.
Guess how many…?
Ask people in your office to guess how many pairs of shoes the boss owns? Charge £1 for each guess then send the proceeds to Lepra before crowning a winner with an extra-long lunch break or early finish.
