Faster, higher, stronger: Becoming Olympians for Giving Tuesday
The javelin, the discus throw, and the 200 metre sprint – these are some of the most well-known classic events at the Olympic Games.
For this year’s Giving Tuesday, TPP Recruitment decided to follow a rather unconventional take on these classics, turning them into office-friendly activities and raising over £3,100 for charity in the process.
Participating teams went head to head at paper plate discus, a balloon sprint, pencil javelin, speed finger skating, and a synchronised chair performance.
The office Olympics were wrapped up with a closing ceremony, where the winning team had the chance to select which charity the proceeds will go to – this year, it was Macmillan Cancer Support and King’s College Hospital Charity.
During the week-long event, staff could purchase raffle tickets with a variety of prizes up for grabs, including extra annual leave, extra volunteering leave and vouchers.
Jayne Morris, CEO of TPP Recruitment, was also challenged to raise a minimum of £1,500 for charity – or, alternatively, would have to sing solo at the agency’s Christmas party.
Sophie Butler, Director at TPP recruitment, said: “As a company who are dedicated to supporting the not-for-profit arena, it is a fantastic platform that offers us an opportunity to get involved on a global scale.
“All of us at TPP are passionate about charitable causes and often get involved throughout the year, whether it be via our own fundraising events, a variety of volunteering efforts and regular payroll giving donations.
“#GivingTuesday offers us the chance to celebrate collectively as a team and is a date in the diary that we all look forward to partaking in, celebrating such a fantastic event, while giving back to the sector we service.”
