On 6 October, let’s shout about the importance of Gift Aid!

By Emma Abbott, Communications Manager, Charity Finance Group

This year’s Gift Aid Awareness Day will be held on Thursday, 6 October and we’re once again asking charities to get involved by spreading the #TickTheBox message on the day.

A little bit of history

Gift Aid is worth around £1.3bn to the UK charity sector each year. It’s a phenomenal amount, but it could be even more. Every year, approximately £560m goes unclaimed.

In 2022, every penny counts so we want to help shrink that figure. Gift Aid Awareness Day was launched in 2018 to help do just that.

The day is an opportunity to explain why this tax relief is so vital and encourage every eligible donor to #TickTheBox.

And it’s thanks to the support of organisations like yours that this awareness campaign continues to go from strength-to-strength.

So how can your organisation get involved in Gift Aid Awareness Day 2022?

A chance to share our impact

Times are uncertain for most, so we want to take this opportunity to acknowledge those who support our charities and give so generously.

Our first message to all those who kindly donate is: If you #TICKTHEBOX – Thank you!

We also want this year’s #TickTheBox campaign to focus on the value of Gift Aid, so we’re asking charities to share the impact Gift Aid has.

Our second campaign message is: You help us to help even more when you #TICKTHEBOX

We know that Gift Aid enables charities to do so much more. It helps charities provide homes for unwanted animals and gives more young people the chance to get involved in sports, arts or music. It provides pain relief for end-of-life care and helps those who are sleeping rough…

Whatever your charity’s purpose, we want Gift Aid Awareness Day to be another chance to show the incredible work you do, thanks to those who #TickTheBox.

On the day, let’s light up social media with the #TickTheBox message. Join us in sharing why Gift Aid is so important to your charity and how it helps your beneficiaries, clients or members.

Together we can encourage even more supporters to #TickTheBox.

Thank you!

We’re always delighted to see so many charities get involved each year and we looking forward to growing that support in 2022. Thank you for raising awareness!
