This #givingtuesday Sepsis Trust UK are taking their cue from Disney and asking  ‘Do you want to BAKE a Snowman?’

It’s our first time taking part in #givingtuesday so this is a new experience for us, one we’re looking forward to!

We are asking if our wonderful & talented supporters would like to make  bake  and donate a Snowman cake

Make someone feel good, donate your Snowman Cake to a friend, neighbour, work colleagues, a school fayre, a care home – it’s up to you! We want the snowman cake to be a ‘signature’ cake for the UK Sepsis Trust  and we don’t mind what style just be sure it’s a snowman inspired cake.

In the film Frozen the Snowman says “some people are worth melting for,” well we feel that “some people are worth baking for!”

Our Snowman Bake a Cake campaign is a way for us all to spend a little time making and giving. Lastly we want to say a “thank you” to everyone who takes part, we would like to encourage ‘giving’ whether it be a cake to a friend or a £5 to the Sepsis Trust. We are entirely funded by public donations and therefore every £1 counts.

We’re setting out with the target to see if we can get 15,000 Snowmen Cakes on the move!  so get baking and help us out!

Please send us your pictures, videos and recipes!

With 21 million people around the world trapped in modern slavery, we have launched our #21for21 campaign to bring freedom and hope, culminating on #givingtuesday.

We are using #givingtuesday to ask people to join the fight against the horrific cruelty and injustice of modern slavery using their generosity and their voice, via a campaign across social media, events, newsletters and other channels, involving films, stories and creativity.

We are using #givingtuesday to highlight the stories of both victims we have rescued and of donors who support us, and to explain the vital need for restorative care for those still traumatised by their experiences.

We are telling stories of people whose lives we have transformed, including Martin. With nowhere to live, no job, family nor money, he was profoundly vulnerable to exploitation. The rain, the snow, the lack of food: he was broken and exhausted. So when strangers promised him a job in the UK, with food and a warm place to stay, it seemed like a perfect way out of a terrible situation.

He was not given time to think. He got into the car with them, slept in their cellar, was put on a coach to the UK. He arrived, with no idea where he was. He was taken to a building and told he was sharing a room with another man.

He cleaned the house for days for no pay, just food and cigarettes. Then factories, bakeries, delivery companies, a car wash. Martin’s traffickers lied to him and exploited him, keeping full control of the money and giving him just tiny slivers of what he had earned.

Finally, Martin worked up the courage to flee, creeping out of the house when he spotted a chance. But with nowhere to go, he found himself destitute, back on unfriendly streets, relying on soup kitchens to eat and sleeping under bushes. That’s when we found him, thanks to information about Hope for Justice he found at a church soup kitchen. Our investigators met him, and saw he was scared and destitute and in a bad way physically.

But Martin was given a ‘survivor pack’ of new clothing and toiletries – all provided thanks to donations from our supporters. For the first time, he smiled. Now we have helped him to live somewhere safe, a long way from his trafficker.

We rescued 134 people from modern slavery last year in the UK, many in joint operations between our investigators and the police.

In the words of our charity’s co-founder and CEO, Ben Cooley: “The way we’ll end slavery is one life at a time. I want to live in a world free from slavery, and every life matters.”

Planning to grab a deal on a new phone this #BlackFriday?

Well, we aren’t the only ones obsessed with upgrading our gadgets. In Africa, mobile phones are not just a cool toy, but a valuable lifeline.

Many Community Health Volunteers rely on their mobile phones to record basic health information and make referrals, as well as keep them up to date on training techniques. Mobile phones improve access to quality maternal health services, so women in rural communities can safely give birth to healthy, happy babies.

Makueni is one of most remote counties in Kenya, with 67% of the population living below the poverty line. In places like Makueni, women and children are hugely affected by inadequate health services and rely on Community Health Volunteers to provide basic support, medicine and treatment.

Amref Health Africa has been working in Makueni since 2012, improving maternal health services and helping prevent childhood disease and malnutrition. So far, our Mama na Mtoto wa Afrika project has reached nearly 30,000 women and over 25,000 children under the age of five.

This #givingtuesday, we are asking you to help upgrade healthcare in Africa by donating £5 to buy a simcard for a Community Health Worker in Africa. A simcard may sound like a small gift, but it can make all the difference.

Help save the lives of mothers and babies across sub-Saharan Africa by keeping Community Health Volunteers connected. Donate your £5, here: www.amrefuk.org/donate.

#givingtuesday is an opportunity for Rockinghorse to introduce our fundraising appeal launched to celebrate our very special 50th anniversary in 2017.

Sussex Giving for Sussex Children‘ is an appeal to raise £500,000 for 10 children’s healthcare centres across the county. We see our 50th birthday as a time for celebration and continuing to make a real impact on the lives of local children.

It is our intention to allocate 10 centres and services in Sussex, each with £50,000, to help them improve, refurbish, and develop their environment for the young people benefiting from their work. By supporting services across Sussex we can continue the legacy of the work of Rockinghorse, enabling us to support children and young people for the next 50 years.

Details of our 50th year projects and the centres we are supporting can be found by visiting our website, and you will also find ways your school, business, family, sports club or community group can get involved and help us achieve our £500,000 fundraising target together.

Time moves on but for 50 years our message has remained the same; as the late great Dr Trevor Mann said, “We can’t always stop children getting sick, but with your help we can make them better.”

By supporting Rockinghorse we can continue to collectively ensure children’s services across Sussex are the best they possibly can be for our children now and in the future.

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice at Carlton Place, Glasgow, provides free person-centred and family-focused palliative care and support.

Our specialist staff and wonderful volunteers are trained to work with those individuals and families who are living with significant challenges to their health and wellbeing. In day care and on the wards, more than 1200 patients and families are cared for every year.

We have outgrown our much-loved hospice building – it no longer meets our requirements or vision for the future of care of patients and their families – and are raising £21 million to build a brand new, purpose-built hospice on a leafy green site in the city’s Bellahouston Park. The foundations have gone down, construction work has begun and patients are expected to move in 2018.

But we still need to raise the remaining £2.4m to reach our target. Buy a Brick, the latest phase of our Brick by Brick Appeal encourages supporters to text ‘BRICK’ to 70660 to donate £5, or donate online at www.ppwh.org.uk/donate, and this #givingtuesday we’re asking people to support this vital campaign.

Our aim is to bring 21st-century hospice care to the people of Glasgow, a major step forward in the provision of palliative care services, providing us with the flexibility to develop and improve our services and lower our age limit to 16-year-old patients.

Lepra is putting a bit of a spin on #givingtuesday this year and asking people to join them for #GivingShoesday.

Throughout India, Bangladesh and Mozambique Lepra provides custom-made shoes for those affected by diseases such as leprosy and lymphatic filariasis. These shoes allow people to walk pain and injury free to work and to school, meaning they can provide for their families and continue their education regardless of their disease or disabilities.

There are several ways you can get involved and help them make a difference on #givingtuesday.

A pound a pair

Fess up and declare how many pairs of shoes you own by donating £1 for every pair to Lepra. Just £6 provides one person with two pairs of protective shoes.

Show us your shoes

Join the likes of Joseph Fiennes, Jo Brand and Alan Titchmarsh in sharing a photo of your shoes on social media. It’ll help Lepra to raise awareness of those neglected diseases that can impact a person’s ability to walk pain-free. Use #GivingShoesday and don’t forget to tag @Lepra_HinA.

Guess how many…?

Ask people in your office to guess how many pairs of shoes the boss owns? Charge £1 for each guess then send the proceeds to Lepra before crowning a winner with an extra-long lunch break or early finish.

For more information on Lepra’s #GivingShoesday visit: https://www.lepra.org.uk/giving-tuesday

What can you do to help animal welfare in 2017?

RSPCA Warrington, Halton and St Helens are a separately registered charity to the national RSPCA and have to raise all their own funds to help the animals in their care.

They are a cruelty case boarding centre, caring for cats and dogs that have been removed by inspectors. The animals are cared for by staff and volunteers at the centre until the prosecution case against their owners come to an end. Once the cases are concluded the animals are signed over and the centre can begin the process of finding them a permanent and loving home.

To support the vital work that they do all year round, RSPCA Warrington, Halton and St Helens are taking part in #givingtuesday this year, and asking people to support them.

They will be launching a giving tree, asking people to write pledges on tags hanging on the tree to help animal welfare in the new year. For example the pledge might be to take an elderly neighbours dog for a walk, or they might talk about how they’re going to help the RSPCA branch – like by donating money for a dogs Christmas dinner.

The tree will be in local garden centre Bents Garden and Home and can be found in their Pet Place. The tree will be in Bents from #givingtuesday (Nov 29th) until Friday 23rd December. People are being encouraged to share a picture of themselves making a pledge or carrying out an act to help animal welfare this Christmas using the hashtag #AnimalGivingTree

This year we’re asking our supporters to take a packed lunch to work on #givingtuesday.

Why? Well, we are the only Independent foodbank in Stockport, Cheshire and we’re workign hard to help people in our local community.

We have been around for 4 years serving some of the most deprived and disadvantaged areas. We offer so much more than food parcels – we also pass on donated pots & pans to cook the food in – along with crockery & cutlery. We also work extensively with homeless people & refugees in our area, passing on donations of clothing, toiletries, bedding & small household items.

We have to find every single penny to keep our food banks running, and we have four in total. Foodbanks are getting busier and busier. With the recent release of the film ‘I, Daniel Blake’, we hope that you will appreciate how easy it is to become a victim of a poverty trap. Foodbanks are a very prominent feature in 2016 and as a charity we see the need, not the cause. We are hoping that you will help us raise some vital funds this #givingtuesday by donating the money you’d normally spend on your lunch to us. Instead of spending, you can take in a packed lunch and use your savings to help someone else in need. Find our how you can donate to us here.

For this #givingtuesday, Toybox is very excited that our Street Santa campaign will be back for the second year running!

Last year, the campaign was a huge success. Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters and social media followers, we raised over £3,100 for some of our partners’ outreach work with street children around the world. This enabled over 1,000 children to receive a fresh meal, a hot drink and some snuggly socks to help sustain them and keep them warm through some of the coldest winter nights.

Never one to sit back however, this year Toybox is aiming higher and is hoping to reach 1,500 street children by asking our supporters and followers to text ‘STREET SANTA’ to 70500 to give £3 to Toybox. This will help to make the chilly winter feel a little more festive for children who are living on the harsh streets of Latin America, India and Kenya. The campaign is running from Friday 25th November but #givingtuesday will signal the grand finale as we try and push closer to that 1,500!

This year for #givingtuesday The Greg Secker Foundation is launching an appeal to help build 100 homes for people whose lives were devastated by #Typhoon Haiyan.

We’re asking people to buy a brick for £5 and send us their #BrickPic!

We’ve created a campaign video featuring our founder Greg Secker.

“For some of you, this might be the first time you’ve heard of #givingtuesday and you might be asking yourself, ‘what is this #givingtuesday thing and when is it?

“#givingtuesday, a global day of giving, takes place on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday and is your chance to give something back after indulging in all of that retail therapy! This year #givingtuesday falls on November 29th and we at the Greg Secker Foundation want to encourage you to donate time, money or your voice to help a good cause. Be it for us or for another organisation, get involved this #givingtuesday and get your karma back on track.
“Here at the Greg Secker Foundation, we are focusing on raising funds for our housing building project in the Philippines – Build a House, Build a Home. The foundation is building 100 homes for people whose lives were devastated by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. We’re building homes strong enough to withstand future typhoons, a multipurpose training centre, and are partnering with the Central Philippine University to provide lifesaving skills training. If you are interested in getting involved, why not join us this #givingtuesday by starting your own fundraising page and assisting our campaign?”

Stay tuned for our updates on #givingtuesday and please join our cause by buying a brick and sending us your #BrickPic!

We will be talking about the campaign across our social media channels in the run up to #givingtuesday so be sure to look out for us on Twitter, Facebook Instagram Linkedin and You Tube.
